Canon has finally?made the highly anticipated?EOS 5D Mark III official and photographers everywhere are already?drooling ??and reaching for their wallets. The $3,500?gadget is a follow-up to the insanely popular 5D Mark II, launched in 2008. It's been a long time coming but boy was it worth the wait.

The Mark III's predecessor overturned the filmmaker world by cramming HD-quality video and a full-frame sensor into a DSLR. The 5D Mark III builds on that legacy.?It has better noise reduction and longer shooting times than the Mark II. It also has a built-in headphone jack???something that the 5D Mark II was lacking, much to the irritation of many videographers?? and there's a new dedicated video capture button.

The 5D Mark III is of course a full-frame DSLR, with a 22.3-megapixel CMOS sensor.?The auto-focus system offered by the EOS 5D Mark II is quite similar to what is found in the higher-end?EOS-1D X. (It has?61 auto-focus points.)?Shooting speed at full resolution has been upgraded to 6 fps (compared to 3.9 fps with the EOS 5D Mark II).

You should check out the full specs of the 5D Mark III on Canon's website, before it's available at the end of March. The body-only configuration will cost $3,500 and a kit with a 24-105mm f/4 zoom lens will cost $4,300. And since it sounds like the 5D Mark II will stick around at least for a while, that might mean a price drop for the older model???you know, that camera you've been waiting four years to get your hands on.

If you compared Sun Country Airlines to other similar carriers, you would see distinctive qualities that would set it apart. The birth of Sun Country occurred from the circumstances of another airline that could no longer remain in business. They endured the same trials and hardships as other airlines, and they even closed their doors for good in December 2001. But that would not be the end of this company as they were brought back to life with the help of investors. They have suffered during recent years from the depressed global economy, and now in December 2010 they are in the early stages of bankruptcy reorganization. However, that seems to be just another challenge to overcome for this airline that started so long ago in the early 1980s.

Just about all airlines engage in a great balancing act, and Sun Country Airlines is no different in that regard. Sun Country Airlines officially came into being in 1999 after Braniff collapsed. Price wars are terribly hard on all airlines for obvious reasons. They had lost a little over 60 million dollars by 2000.

The governments grounding of all flights after September 11th 2001 sealed the fate of the airline. They essentially stopped all flights in December of 2001, and that was the end of the company. In July of 2010 they announced their placement as a top 10 domestic airline in Travel & Leisure magazine. This is a big part of the recognition given by Travel & Leisure?s World?s Best Service Award for the year 2010. This means that Sun Country?s hard work is beginning to pay off as a runner for the Travel & Leisure World?s Best Service Award for 2010. This recognition puts Sun Country in the running for the World?s Best Service Award given By Travel & Leisure Magazine. This award is based on the surveys of those who actually fly the various airways. The ranking is includes grades for customer satisfaction in the areas of personal attention and personal service. Only those domestic airline carriers eligible for the pool are included in the surveys. Which of course makes it especially satisfying for Sun Country to have made the list.

In July of 2010, Sun Country Airlines told the world of their new and successful flights to Hawaii and London from the US mainland originating airports. The Boeing 737 ? 800 twin engine airliner was the chosen aircraft. But that is not the first Atlantic ocean crossing using a twin engine airliner. The previous month, in June, Sun Country operated their first Atlantic ocean crossing flight from Minneapolis/St. Paul to London?s Stansted Airport. Sun Country Airlines is of course considered a smaller operator along the lines of a regional. But they do offer popular destinations to the Caribbean and other favorite warm-weather spots in the US and Mexico. Employees of Braniff airlines were the first to have started Sun Country. Braniff went out of business and a pool of experienced and talented airline professionals conceived and founded Sun Country Airlines. They originally conceived the notion of providing top notch customer experiences.

Initial genetic analysis reveals Ice Man, ?tzi, predisposed to cardiovascular disease

ScienceDaily (Feb. 28, 2012) ? In a paper appearing in Nature Communications, researchers report new findings about physiognomy, ethnic origin and predisposition towards illness of the world's oldest glacier mummy.

Roughly 18 months ago, a team of scientists succeeded in decoding the full genome of ?tzi, the mummified Iceman, revealing his entire genetic make-up. Thus the course was set for solving further mysteries surrounding the world's oldest glacier mummy. And now the next milestone has been reached: researchers from the Institute for Mummies and the Iceman at the European Academy of Bolzano/Bozen (EURAC), and from the Institutes for Human Genetics at the University of T?bingen and Saarland University have analysed various aspects of the raw data gained from the DNA sequencing.

?tzi was genetically predisposed to cardiovascular diseases, according to recent studies carried out by the team of scientists working with Albert Zink and Angela Graefen from Bolzano's EURAC Institute for Mummies and the Iceman, Carsten Pusch and Nikolaus Blin from the Institute for Human Genetics at the University of T?bingen, along with Andreas Keller and Eckart Meese from the Institute of Human Genetics at Saarland University. Not only was this genetic predisposition demonstrable in the 5,000-year-old ice mummy, there was also already a symptom in the form of arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. And yet, in his lifetime, ?tzi was not exposed to the risk factors which we consider today to be the significant triggers of cardiovascular disease. He was not overweight and no stranger to exercise.

"The evidence that such a genetic predisposition already existed in ?tzi's lifetime is of huge interest to us. It indicates that cardiovascular disease is by no means an illness chiefly associated with modern lifestyles. We are now eager to use these data to help us explore further how these diseases developed," says anthropologist Albert Zink with bioinformatics expert Andreas Keller.

Apart from this genetic predisposition, the scientists were able to identify traces of bacteria from the genus Borrelia, which are responsible for causing infections and are transmitted by ticks. Carsten Pusch, who led the genetic investigations in T?bingen, comments: "This is the oldest evidence for borreliosis (Lyme disease) and proof that this infection was already present 5,000 years ago."

One further aspect which particularly interested the scientists was the Iceman's genetic. They found that ?tzi belonged to a particular so-called Y-chromosome haplogroup which is relatively rare in present-day Europe. The findings indicate that ?tzi's ancestors had migrated from the Middle East as agriculture and cattle-breeding became more widespread. Their genetic heritage is most common today in geographically isolated areas and islands such as on Sardinia and Corsica.

The genetic investigations also revealed a wealth of further information facts about the physical appearance of the Iceman: he had brown eyes, brown hair, and suffered from lactose intolerance which meant he could not digest milk products. This finding supports the theory that, despite the increasing spread of agriculture and dairying, lactose intolerance was still common in ?tzi's lifetime. The ability to digest milk throughout adulthood developed steadily over the next millennia alongside the domestication of animals. The full genome sequencing was supported by the National Geographic Society (USA), by Life Technologies (USA) and Comprehensive Biomarker Center (Germany).

Thomas A. Shakely: An Applied Vision for Young Catholic Professionals

Philadelphians have long been known for their devotion to their city and its triumphs, both real and legendary. We're a people whose roots run deeper than our cynicism and whose sense of spirit is our grounding rock. In our experience, this spirit has been particularly evident in Greater Philadelphia's Catholic high schools.

Large alumni bases have sprouted with deep roots over generations across the Delaware Valley defined by a unique combination of faith, tradition, and service. After high school (and certainly after college) opportunities to carry on this special spirit have been rare.

By spring of last year, Gavin Keirans and I began sketching out the initial drafts of a new organization, the Philadelphia Catholic League Alumni Corps, as a means to unite alumni of the Catholic system through shared experiences in service leadership. In this way, the rich networks that were nurtured during high school could be sustained and grown among the same people as young professionals and Philadelphians returning home after time away at college.

At Penn State we saw firsthand how impactful Catholic high school alumni could be, and in three out of four years we elected the student body president and shaped the direction of one of the largest student bodies in the country. This was in no small part thanks to the ground force of thousands of Catholic high school alumni and friends strategically supporting a set of ideas. In preserving networks of friends and allies, that Catholic combination of faith, tradition, and service amplified our collective voice.

Now that many of these folks have graduated and are returning home, we wanted to build something that harnessed that energy to improve our communities. The journey begun together in high school or earlier could continue and, in the process, enrich our city.

After conversations with local leaders, priests, and friends, we discovered the pro-bono incorporation service of Philadelphia VIP. Within a few weeks of application we were paired with a young attorney who shepherded us through the incorporation and nonprofit exemption application process. Thus was the Philadelphia Catholic League Alumni Corps born.

We held our first service leadership event on Sat., Feb. 25th and drew more than 75 young professionals for a project we believe will be truly transformational in nature. At St. Thomas Aquinas, a Catholic community in South Philadelphia, our team converged to renovate a former convent and day care center. This center will now incubate local businesses, mission groups, and nonprofits. We conducted beautification through wallpaper removal, sanding, and painting, and will be crafting a long-term plan for the financial sustainability of the center.

This type of work was beyond the means of the local community in as rapid or concerted a fashion, and the incubator sustainability plans will accelerate the usefulness of the physical plant and advance St. Thomas Aquinas's plan for the building by more than a year.

Over time, we hope to position the Philadelphia Catholic League Alumni Corps for growth into geographic sub-chapters to serve nurture people across the city's neighborhoods. As an organization, we strongly hold true the idea of promoting cura personalis -- of building the whole person. We know that this will take sustained effort and long term support, but we envision this organization as a multifaceted resource and ally for people across Philadelphia.

We met earlier this month with Catie Wolfgang, Mayor Nutter's Chief Service Officer, to begin a cooperative relationship. It is our hope that within a year we have the long term structure in place to live our vision of building a better Philadelphia through service leadership.
