The media giant had sued for millions in damages and to prevent Cablevision (NYSE:CVC - News) from offering an app that lets subscribers watch Viacom (NYSE:VIAB - News) programming on Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL - News) iPad. Terms of the settlement weren't disclosed. Cablevision rolled out the app in April, and Viacom sued in June. Viacom and Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC - News) had a similar dispute but postponed legal action to try to reach a deal. Viacom gained 7.9% to 46.23. Cablevision climbed 9.6% to 18.47.
