The Indie Fix: Pink Planets Promo Power : Videogame News ...

What is Pink Plan?ets? Well, I?ll tell you what I know. It?s the first game devel?oped by two broth?ers from the Nether?lands for their new com?pany Mein?Mein, pro?duc?ers of indie games and.? intel?li?gence. Arti?fi?cial intel?li?gence to be exact. Their web?site explains at some length exactly what they mean by the AI bit, which I?ll admit went a bit over my head. Okay, I sort of just skimmed it, but you can read more if this is the sort of thing that inter?ests?you!

But I?m not here to tell you about AI (I?d be severely under-qualified to do that). I?m here for Pink Plan?ets, because we need more games focused on the color pink and space ham?sters; two things Mein?Mein promises will be in their upcom?ing game. See?ing as I?ve nei?ther played the game, nor seen it in action, I?ll let the developer?s words fill in the blanks:

Pink Plan?ets is a cute iso?met?ric grid-based sand?box puz?zle game set in a pink uni?verse. As a lit?tle ham?ster alone in space in an over?sized space suit, you have to res?cue your friends from sur?pris?ing mon?sters by build?ing cute and cre?ative struc?tures. And if you gather enough build?ing blocks, you even get to build your own level, which you can eas?ily share with your friends!

The thing that most caught my eye is the game?s graph?ics, which I mis?took for pre-rendered pro?mo?tional art until Mein?dert (one of the two broth?ers) of Mein?Mein informed me that no, the pro?mo?tional posters below are actu?ally from in-game screen?shots. Check them out (click to enlarge to glo?ri?ous full?size!).

What can I say? I?m a sucker for sharp graphic design, and Pink Plan?ets seems to have that in spades. It also has a pro?mo?tion com?ing up in a week which you may want to check out. The Space Camp Build?ing Com?pe?ti?tion will allow play?ers to see some of the intro?duc?tory ele?ments of the game, and use the game?s tools to build struc?tures which peo?ple will then vote on to choose the best one. The top three win?ners will get a free copy of the game, and the grand prize win?ner will see their design in the final ver?sion of the game when it comes out on Steam in the near future.

If any of this sounds inter?est?ing to you, check out Pink Plan?ets? web?site for more infor?ma?tion, and a handy count?down clock for when the com?pe?ti?tion is slated to?begin.
